In previous sections, you’ve studied several different leadership theories. Trait theory, for example, holds that leaders are born with specific traits that make them good leaders. Behavior theory suggests that leaders characteristically behave in certain ways, so you can learn to be an effective leader by learning to behave a specific way. Transformational leadership theory holds that effective leaders appeal to morals and values to inspire others to follow. In this section, you will learn about the situational leadership theory. This theory proposes that the environment and the readiness of followers determine, to a large extent, how leaders will tend to function. By understanding the interplay between environment and the readiness and motivation of followers, you can strengthen your repertoire of leadership skills, gaining experience and confidence in your own leadership style
